JARDUM System Troubleshooting Guide

💡
This guide is aimed at providing aid for vehicle or marine technicians. Electrical experience and access to a digital multi-meter is required. End users should take their vehicle or boat to dealer and not attempt troubleshooting on their own.
No GPS Position
In the event that GPS signal is lost, the “No GPS” symbol will appear on the screen

  • Navigate to the Satellite Status page. Settings > Maps > Satellite Status
  • Verify that the GPS puck is detected
      1. If GPS puck is not detected, check the power and CAN connection to the GPS puck

  • Verify that 3 green satellites are within view
      1. The GPS puck must be mounted flat with the connector facing down with a clear view of the sky and horizon.
      1. Dense tree cover, geography such as canyons, buildings, and metal will impede the GPS signal.
      1. Mount the GPS as high on vehicle/vessel as possible

Zero Off Cruise is not functioning
  1. Verify that a ZO GPS is connected: Settings > Maps > Satellite Status
  1. Verify that the engine has an E-Controls ECM
  1. Verify that there is good ground connections between throttle handle and engine
Display does not power up
  • Turn IGN or ACC power on and take following measurements on connector B.
  • Measure voltage between Vbatt to GND. If not 12V check for power on ACC terminal of key switch.
  • Measure voltage between IGN to GND. If not 12V check for power on ACC terminal of key switch.
  • If there is power, review other Display related questions to verify no other problem exists. If no other problem exists replace display.
  • If power has been applied to video ground on the connector D (Pin 1 and Pin 2), internal damage will occur requiring display replacement.
Display is black
Follow steps in
Display is dim
  • Verify brightness setting is at 100% (Settings > Display > Brightness)
  • Access the auto brightness menu by selecting Settings > Display > Brightness
  • Turn off GPS and Ambient light based brightness
  • Some applications will dim light if Navigation lights are turned on. Verify lights are off
PDM does not function
  • Navigate to the PDM debug page: Settings > General > Debug
    • Note: On some displays, dealer permissions are required to access the debug page. Log into the display with dealer permissions: Settings > General > Restricted Settings > 9191
  • Verify that PDMs are enabled and detected
    • PDMs can be enabled from Setting > PDM menu
    • If PDMs are not detected:
      • Verify 12V power is provided to the the PDM on the large DTHD connectors
      • Verify CAN connection
        • PDM Debug Page - Exact colors and function vary by software version

  • Verify that the green connector is plugged in correctly
    • The green connector can be forced in backwards. The CAN wires are in pins 1 and 12 on the left side of connector.
    • CAN low is plugged into pin 1 and is typically green or blue
    • CAN high is plugged into pin12 and is typically yellow or white
      • Correct orientation of the green connector with just CAN wires

PDM output is not turning on
  • Navigate to the PDM debug page: Settings > General > Debug
    • Note: On some displays, dealer permissions are required to access the debug page. Log into the display with dealer permissions: Settings > General > Restricted Settings > 9191
  • Verify that PDMs are enabled and detected
    • If not detected follow steps in section “PDM Does not function:
  • Turn on the intended output
  • Verify the state is greater than 0.
    • A fully on output is listed as State: 100
    • An H-bridge such as tab actuator or ballast pump in reverse will show -100
  • Verify that there are no short or overcurrent faults (Fault Code 1 or 2)
    • Note: Open circuit Fault Code 3 commonly occurs in functioning outputs. This fault is ignored
  • Check for 12V coming from the output pin

No Engine Data
  • For all J1939 and NMEA2000 engines, verify the engine CAN is connected to CAN 1 on the display
  • If using certain marine engines such as Mercury and Yamaha a NMEA2000 gateway is required
  • Navigate to Settings > Engine
    • Verify the appropriate Engine Data Type is connected
    • Verify baud rate is correct. For J1939 and NMEA2000 baud rate is 250k.
    • Try toggling CAN Termination on/off. To work properly, the CAN bus must have to termination, typically one in display and one within ECU.
  • Most engine data issues are related to CAN bus errors.
